Got Water?

I just love LOVE the book “Your Body’s Many Cries For Water” by Dr. F. Batmanghelidj (I call him Dr. Batman). The basic concept behind the book is that your body needs water–not tea or coffee, soda, or any other fluid–your body needs PURE water to function properly. Your brain takes absolute priority over all the other systems in your body. It is said that the brain tissue consists of 85% water. When you drink water, your brain sucks up the water first, and then basically whatever water it doesn’t suck up is rationed to the rest of the systems in your body. If your body isn’t getting enough water over time, then eventually your body becomes like a prune, and disease and ailments settle in–like headaches, back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, stress and depression, high blood pressure, hypertension, blood cholesterol, asthma and allergies, etc. Chronic dehydration of the body is a persistent shortage of water established over some time. Dr. Batman says that with the simple intake of an added amount of water every day, you can beat many diseases. I know, it’s a complete shift in thinking–a new paradigm–but I’ve become a believer.

Several months back I began having bouts of fainting spells. My daughter and I were out shopping and I started to feel weird and remarked to her that I wasn’t feeling well. The next thing you know it, I passed out and fell flat to the floor like an apple dropping from a tree. After this was happening regularly, I went to the doctor for a full workup. Guess what? I was dehydrated! My diet Coke had become my “water” and slowly over time my body dehydrated. I decided then and there to get off of caffeine AND soda. I haven’t had a stitch of it since August 2010 and it feels GREAT! I haven’t had one fainting spell since. My energy levels have improved. My thinking has improved. I feel great.
